Hey everyone,
I'm very new to the carp fishing scene, my brother has just introduced me after doing years of sea
fishing.
So I went out and bought myself a cheap complete set up and hit the lakes for the first time last
weekend with my brother for help and advice.
Got down to Revels about at 7:30am and made our way to the match lake as I was just looking for my
first fish. Due to the hot weather I think every peg was taken by 10 o'clock.
The fishing was slow and very quiet with the odd small fish being caught by others and nothing else
untill about 5pm when the lake seemed to come alive. I was fishing against the island but could see
fish in the margins just below my feet so I changed tactics and brought my rods in and put one 2ft
to my left and the other to my right and within 2mins my line was running off the spool and I hooked
into and landed my first common carp of 8lb, well chuffed.
Soon after my brother had a nice 4lb common and then all quiet for an hour. We were just about to...

I thought I had caught one before, but my brother inlaw said it was just a pale common,
Well I was fishing with my step brother, it was a hard days fishing, we decided to sit right in the
brunt end of the cold wind, so not the best place to be fishing, it was a quiet day,
I had 2 carp about 1lb:P and a 10lb 8oz common already during the session, my stepbrother had caught
afew fish and got spat by 2 (one was a real biggen)
with 5minutes till packup, my friend called me to ask how fishing was going, as he was on the phone,
I had to chuck it on the floor to strike my rod, after 2minutes I saw a flash of white under the
surface,
so I bullied it alittle to the surface just to get a quick glance to see if it was a ghosty and gosh
did my face light up :) played the fish for about 5-10 minutes till it eventually gave up, netted it
and called it the beautiful creature that it is.
just over 10lb, not big, but its still my first ghosty :D

We went to burton springs fishery in somerest.
First got there and it was blowing a gale and the lake was bare from the bad winter we had. Didnt do
that great but we never fished there in the winter so wasnt expecting much.
I had 2 small beam and my mrs had 1 bream and a nice carp at 15.5lb,also just happened to be her
birthday
Is this a leather carp????
Cant wait to get back out there and smash my record!

we had an afternoon session up at millhayes and it was well worth the 6quid!

was caught at the pond locally to me, its where i first started carp fishing and ive always gone
there when I cant find a lift to a bigger venue,
got this carp on 3 peices of corn on the hair,
it was 14lb 6oz back in november 07, apparantly amonth ago on the same pond a 18lb carp came out, I
think it could be the same one, so recatching it is definately on my todo list,

I hadnt fished much in the meantime from catching that and restarted afew months back, but im
hitting some venues now that could beat this carp,
