hi i was just wondering if anyone has fished this lake as it is supposed to be one of the best day ticket waters in lancashire and if you have any advice is welcome (bait,rigs,peg location etc) as i am going on the 2nd of october for my mates birthday. i no it has a few 30lb+ fish in it as its resident was butt head the legendry beast

Churchwood Fisheries in Brentwood Essex, is a beautiful, tranquil day ticket fishery set within the owners private back garden. There are 3 lakes in total although fishing is only permitted on two of the them, Jenkins and Churchwood. The lakes are set within mature surroundings where fisherman can often watch the resident Kingfishers, monkjack deer along with various other wildlife. The fishing lakes were excavated around 40 years ago although the original moat around the house can be traced back to the Doomsday book. The River Wid starts its journey just above the fishery and therefore the fishery benefits from a regular in flow of fresh water creating a healthy and vibrant environment for the various species of fish that inhabit these wonderful lakes. Churchwood Fisheries has been well documented in numerous fishing magazine articles and videos over the past 30 years and has established itself as one of the best day ticket fishing waters in Essex.

Willow lake
Willow lake has been established as a specimen carp water since 1992 many of the fish are the originals stocked back in 1988 at the weight of just 1-2lb.
Covering 6 acres we believe the carp stock numbers around 250 fish with approximately 70% over 20lb and many upper twenties. There are a further 10-15 fish between 30lb-40lb with the present lake record at 40lb 2oz (October 09) Additional stocks include a few Grass carp to 25lb+, Catfish to over 60lb, Tench to 8lb, Bream, Roach and Rudd.

Wyreside Fisheries is a 4.5. acre lake, situated alongside the River Wyre, 15 minutes from the M6, from Preston and from Lancaster as well as being just 15 minutes from Blackpool. The lake is well matured, set in a peaceful location with abundant wildlife.

Fifteen purpose built swims have been created with ample room for bivvys and rods and every swim has features to fish to, be that island, reeds, lilies, overhanging trees etc. Stone and gravel areas have been introduced to the lake and weed growth is now strictly controlled.

Fish a commercial that’s well stocked with not only carp, but also roach, skimmer bream and chub if you can.

And choose a commercial that’s not too deep – average depth of 4ft with 2ft margins will be ideal.
