| Kingcombe 3 3/4 hour session - RandomTackleBox

Managed to sneak in a quick session today at Kingcombe while my girlfriend and baby were in
Bridport. Decided to take on the challenge of fishing the tricky specimen lake (the weedy one that
you come to first).
Now I have only fished Kingcombe twice before and caught 4 carp to 10lb, all from the other lake.
I've heard there were a few lumps in there, but have not seen a decent fish on the bank.
After around an hours fishing my right hand rod tore off, and a 4lb ghostie graced the net. Not
massive but a blank avoided!
Nothing for about another hour, until my left hand rod tore off and I hit into what felt like a
better fish. It tried it's best to get into the thick weed, but I eventually managed to net it (and
around 5lb of weed). It wasn't till I got it onto the mat that I realised I had a decent chunky
Ghostie. I was more than happy when the scales read 21lb10oz.
Nothing for the rest of the session, but in under 4 hours I walked back to the car a happy chap!

Me and jay got down here at 6, and just managed to get set up before darkness fell. Good news is one
has already hit the back of the landing net!

Went with my mate for a day at revels specimen lake fishing a couple of rods for carp and a couple
for pike.
The lake is currently very weedy with only around a third of the lake actually fish-able, which on a
lake under an acre, greatly reduces your options. However first cast on one of the pike rods, I
managed a fish of around 10-11lb on smelt. It was a good few hours before any further action came,
with my mate landing a 4lb carp (probably the smallest carp in the lake!) off the top on chum
mixture.....pretty impressive for November.
The afternoon went without a run on the carp gear, and the pike rods were not producing. However as
the sun began to disappear the carp really came active, with plenty of movement in the weed and
lily's with both rods getting knocks. My mates margin rod shot off, but before he lift into it, the
bait was dropped. Around 30 minutes later my rod near lily's shot off and I was soon into what felt
like a good fish. Unfortunately, the fish kept deep and snagged me under the lily's. I did manage to...

got back this morning after a very successfull 24 hour trip to a midlands gravel pit. Most anglers
were blanking, mostly fishing over beds of bait and some were spodding seed.
Not many fish had been caught so i decided on a swim that commanded plenty of open water with a
depth of 8 foot,i fished 2 rods at exactly 112 yards on 1 bait stringers and took 12 carp in 24
hours.
It just goes to show what can be achieved if you do your own thing and think about what your doing
instead of following the heavy baiting approach..
I had 12 bites for 12 carp on a simple bottom bait rig to just over 23lbs.

Just finished a 24 hour session at Lyons Gate, fishing the main lake.
It wasn't the warmest of days on Friday, and went down to around 7 degrees over night, but I still
managed 12 carp (3 doubles) to 12.5lb and 10 tench to 4lb. Most were caught on N-tice polony,
although I did take 2 off the top on Saturday morning using bread. Always a nice buzz seeing the
bread sucked in, and the line zip off.
It was my first time fishing at Lyons Gate, and will certainly be back there fairly soon. There
seemed to be plenty of carp in the 4-8lb mark coming out, pellet and tutti frutti boilies seemed to
be working for others. A couple of other doubles came out while I was there as well.
I'd highly recommend the big boy breakfast (needs to be ordered in advance), and they also made me
cheeseburger and chips and brought it to my swim. If anyone is thinking of fishing overnight, you
need to let them know in advance, as there are a limited number of pegs for night fishing.

As you can see, a pretty dissapointing session at the usually prolific Wadmill lake. The night was
absolutely freezing, but it was nice to get back out there anyway.

I suppose the only plus was i caught my pb bream, 7lb 2oz!
